My paintings consist of acrylic paint on jute canvas of subjects portrayed in the simplest way of form and color. Subjects being diminished to backgrounds, but keeping enough detail to portray my message. The colors I use do not aim to depict reality directly, but rather to capture a resemblance of the reality as I perceive it.

This series represents my personal journal, encompassing a compilation of childhood tales spanning from my earliest memories to the present moment. It encompasses both shared everyday recollections and my own individual thoughts and experiences to create a visual diary. Within this series, I observe a merge between my background in Lebanon with my current home in Switzerland, resulting in the formation of a diverse but unified identity.

My interest in documenting personal narratives and constantly looking back at the past is deeply rooted in the Druze religion I was raised in. Through their belief in reincarnation, I was always exposed to past life stories. Additionally, I grew up in a mystical community of fortune tellers that use various rituals to narrate stories about the possible future. These encounters always intrigued me and are the inspiration behind my current project.

My artistic process consists of layering acrylic paint, forming shapes that represent the subject in a collaged style devoid of perspective. My aim is to depict my story in a simple manner and evoke basic emotions. Memories can be distorted and their visual representation may evolve over time, so I work in a fast manner, benefiting from the fast-drying acrylic paint as a chosen medium. This allows me to capture the essence of how I currently perceive the memory. I utilize oil pastels to introduce movement and pattern. Inspired by the Arabic language and the chaotic writings that overwhelm the walls and shop vitrines in the city of Beirut, I sometimes include Arabic writings to my artwork. Moreover, by employing bold strokes on a jute canvas, I create a textured effect reminiscent of textiles I grew up around.

I am inspired by the loud colors, textures and story telling from Lebanon and the serene urban and natural landscapes of Switzerland. As I reflect on my past experiences and simultaneously observe the present, I find myself immersed in an intertwined mesh of the chaotic restless character of one home, in contrast to the composed attributes of the other.
